Weigh anchor and sail from powdery white sands into the azures that fringe the craggy coastline: sail into the shallow choppy waters at Cala Llenia or throw an anchor into the deep blue depths at Portinatx or bohemian Benirrás and snorkel at unspoilt Cala d’Hort. Es vedra is a pleasant tiny anchorage, Port de Sant Miguel combines stretches of fine champagne-hued sand with the cool air of the mountains, and Sant Antoni's colourful underwater world is ideal for divers and snorkelers.

The nearby island of Formentera is a popular destination for mega yachts, offering pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a laid-back atmosphere that is perfect for luxury yacht charters. From the south of Ibiza, it's a short picturesque crossing to Formentera's fields of wild rosemary and naturists gathered on exquisite lengths of salt-white sand. You'll find fewer hotels, fewer cars, quieter nightlife, and bounds of opportunity for serene sailing and easy days of barefoot luxury in the stunning western Mediterranean.

Ibiza's resorts and beaches are full by August when the mercury hits the late 20s, but much of the island's interiors, and the rural beaches of the north coast welcome only a trickle of tourists compared to Ibiza Town. Regardless of why you're visiting Ibiza: for the beaches, eclectic island topography or the charming villages that freckle much of its coast, the island is attractive for most of the year, though water temperatures plummet somewhat during the winter months.
