Originating in the coastal town of Bodrum, Gulets were simple, two-mastered wooden boats made with pine and chestnut and used for fishing and sponge diving. Around the mid 20th century, the same time as Turkey’s growing tourism industry, gulets transformed from practical vessels to luxurious yacht charters.
